Alabama man arrested for breaking and entering, additional charges

AUBURN, Ala. - On Feb. 21, 2026, Auburn Police arrested Carlos Eduardo Lopez, age 44, from Lacey’s Spring, Alabama, on felony warrants charging him with unlawful breaking and entering into a vehicle, theft of property third degree and five counts of fraudulent use of credit/debit card.
The arrest stems from an auto burglary that was reported on Dec. 17, 2025. A victim reported that a vehicle was burglarized while it was parked outside of a residence near the 300 block of North Cedarbrook Drive. The victim reported that property was stolen from the vehicle, including debit/credit cards that were used to conduct multiple fraudulent transactions.
Carlos Eduardo Lopez was developed as a suspect and, after further investigation, arrest warrants were obtained. Lopez was incarcerated at the Shelby County Jail in Columbiana, Alabama on unrelated charges. On Feb. 21, Lopez was transported to the Auburn Police Department and arrested in obedience to the outstanding warrants. Lopez was then transported to the Lee County Jail and held on a $12,000 bond.
All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
